Military secretary to Massachusetts governor John Andrew. During an 1842 trip, he met Daniel Webster and President Tyler, and received a letter of introduction from Henry Clay. In 1874 became managing editor of "New York Evening Post." According to one family member , his marriage to Mattie alienated him from the Browne family: "Albert became selfish after he married that woman."
